Our team has experience on several project with converting legacy manuals into XML/SGML tagged files. During these projects our technical writing team uses a variety of methods to convert text, illustrations and graphics into a format that is compliant with the military specification. In some projects we have also made recommendations on what standard would be the best fit for the conversion of the content into XML or SGML.
Our process consists of the following
- Analysis of the legacy manuals to review of sections that are not compliant with the military specification.
- Conversion of text into tagged SGML/XML.
- Conversion of existing illustrations, in paper or electronic format, into a format per the project requirements.
- Reorganization of data, as needed, to fit modern standards.
- Quality check of converted data.
- Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to resolve issues found during the quality check of the converted content.
